Mars Rodriguez
Hartford Regional Organizer
Mars Rodriguez is an impassioned organizer and activist striving to empower communities in the fight for socio-economic justice. They understand that the bottom line of any successful movement is cultivating a politically conscious base and providing people with the knowledge necessary to critically analyze our material and social conditions. In the process of obtaining their master's degree in political science, Mars developed a strong background in political education, facilitating two Gender and Sexuality courses at the University of Connecticut that explored systems of oppression. Their passion for education and socio-economic justice led Mars to assist in the statewide fight to ensure educational equity and immigrant protections in Connecticut, and to increase funding for Hartford Public Schools. With further academic expertise on the impact of police militarization on Black and Brown communities, Mars is now helping lead the charge to end the school-to-prison pipeline.
